What are Proofreading Services?
Proofreading is the final stage of the editorial process, conducted after developmental (substantive) editing, line editing, copyediting, and before publication. Its primary goal is to catch any remaining surface-level errors that may have been missed in earlier editing rounds. Proofreading focuses on identifying and correcting typos, misspellings, and minor grammatical mistakes; it also catches repeated words, misplaced punctuation, and other small errors.
I would also check for awkward line breaks, widows/orphans, and formatting glitches in the final proof. It also helps me make sure that headings, spacing, fonts, and page numbers are uniform and adhere to the required style.
There is no rewriting at this stage, only making sure that your manuscript is ready for publication.
Pricing for this service is between $.01-$.025 per word, depending on the project and timeframe. Payment plans are available. Contact me for more details.
